bright dark

There are two sides to me.
There’s the side that is strong and soft, low and introvert,

It’s not a split personality.
Inside, there are two voices,

I’ll call the side that you know, Bright.
And the side you don’t, Dark.

Bright is the one to sit back,
And smile no matter how much she’s in pain.

While Dark stands up and speaks out.
Most of what she does is all in vain.

Dark lets out an evil laughter that bounces round inside.
Bright becomes so afraid she searches for a safe place to hide.

  1. The two paradoxical aspects of the existence of the rational-sentimental being, can be brought into the state of equilibrium only by a third… Christ Jesus, I believe! 🙂

  2. Nancy, your poem beautifully expresses what we have all felt… the highs and the lows/the public face and the private face/confidence and doubt. I will share a bit of personal philosophy:

To know ourselves, we must recognize the existence of both the positive and negative aspects of ourselves.

To be happy, we must choose to live life in a positive way, focusing on the positives. Happiness is a choice.

    Enjoy your weekend. Cheryl

  3. Embracing them both is the key. They are both important, giving background and meaning to each other. The dark is as much you, as the bright. Loved the poem. 🙏🤜🤛🙏 Keep inspired.
